Pure fury coursed through Mitchell’s veins. And it wasn’t directed at Sasha. It was directed at himself. He was furious with himself for being so weak, for allowing his feelings to control his actions.

He should never have kissed or touched her or allowed her to feel how much he wanted her. He should have let her go on thinking she had the upper hand when she’d slapped him for his crude remark. Now she was sure to see the power she had over him, so much so that he couldn’t control his hunger for her anytime she was in the vicinity.

How in the hell did he expect to get through this competition if he couldn’t keep his mind and his hands off her?

He paced the confines of his room. It seemed to shrink smaller and smaller as his anxiety grew. Finally he pushed open the sliding doors of his terrace and stepped outside, hoping that the cool evening breeze would lower his internal temperature.

He leaned against the railing. No matter how hard he tried he couldn’t seem to get her off of his mind. He’d tried. He’d tried with Joy Martin. They’d spent most of the evening together, back at Jolly Beach Resort and all of the following morning, and it was clear to him that she wanted to take things to the next level. She’d said as much:

“Listen, Mitch. I’m a big girl, just here to have a good time.” She’d run her finger along his chest as they’d sat knee to knee at the table in the dining room. “I’d love for you to spend the night with me. No strings. Just some fun between consenting adults.” She ran her tongue slowly across her lips and took her bare foot and placed it gently on his crotch, making him jump at her bold move. She flashed a sly smile as she massaged him with her toes. “I know it will be worth your while.”

For a moment he’d considered heartily agreeing with her offer. She was easy on the eyes, had a great body. She was fun, smart and willing. What more could a man ask for? But he couldn’t. As much as he’d tried to be turned on by Joy, he simply wasn’t. Whatever that “thing” was, it simply wasn’t there for him. At least not with her. And it wasn’t that she didn’t turn him on, she did…but just barely. With Joy he felt like a car that was running on fumes and just coasting along. But with Sasha he was in overdrive, engines revved and ready to go. The last thing he needed was to be lying in bed with Joy trying to explain why he couldn’t make it to the finish line.

He’d reached under the table and lowered her foot to the floor. “I think you’re great. I really do. But this isn’t what I’m looking for. Not right now, anyway.” He’d pushed back from his seat and stood. Joy watched him in wide-eyed disbelief. “If you want I’ll walk you back to your room.
